The Marrakech-Safi Regional Council Discusses a Loan of More than 450 Million Dirhams to Finance Urban Bus Transport

 The Council of the Marrakech-Safi region is holding its session this Monday, July 7 in the morning, with a particularly notable agenda item: a request for a financial loan exceeding 458 million dirhams.

This substantial sum is intended to finance the region’s share in the new model of delegated management contracts for urban and intercommunal bus transport ,this crucial point, submitted to the Council by the Wali of the region, is part of a context of vast movements of restructuring and organization of the transport sector,It follows the bid opening session organized by the company « Marrakech Mobilité », concerning a call for tenders for the acquisition of 306 buses modern, for an amount exceeding 703 million dirhams.

This is one of the largest urban transportation transactions in the region. The importance of this July session is not limited to this single point,the Council’s agenda includes 28 points which will be submitted for discussion and approval during a single session, which will be held at the region’s headquarters in Sidi Youssef Ben Ali.

These items encompass strategic areas such as performance reports, development programs, as well as major rail link and infrastructure expansion projects, without forgetting changes to previous financing agreements ,while the envisaged loan will support the region’s contribution to improving the transport system, the wide range of items on the agenda reveals an orientation towards a profound restructuring of the transport sectors. development, the local economy and the supply of drinking water.

Signs of expansion of cultural and sporting investments are also perceptible, as evidenced by the capital participation project in the regional development company « Marrakech Congress & Events » for more than 319 million dirhams,Between financing files and development programs, the region finds itself facing the challenge of balancing its development ambitions with the weight of its financial commitments.

This regional context requires rigorous management and far-sighted vision from elected institutions, in order to preserve financial balance and ensure a tangible impact on the lives of citizens.
