
Chinese investors looking for opportunities in Morocco
Prospecting mission for Chinese tourism investors in Morocco.
A delegation from Canton was welcomed on Monday in Rabat by members of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT). The goal is to unearth tourism investment opportunities offered by Morocco. Part of the strategy of diversification of investment source markets undertaken by SMIT, this visit allowed Chinese investors to discover the tourist offer in important Moroccan destinations.
Speaking on this occasion, Imad Barrakad, chairman of the board of directors of SMIT, reviewed the main achievements of Morocco, particularly in terms of development of tourism sectors and infrastructure. On the Chinese side, Wang Yong Bao, head of the delegation, expressed the wish of Chinese investors to diversify their investments in Morocco. The Chinese representative informed the members of the SMIT of his country’s ambition “to promote the Silk Road which represented one of the main passages which linked China and the southern and western parts of Central Asia and India with the bordering regions of Africa and Europe”.
Note that the Chinese delegation includes investors operating in thematic hotels, amusement and leisure parks as well as resorts and well-being. On the order of this prospecting mission, the visit to tourist projects in Tangier, Saidia, Al Hoceima, Fez, Essaouira and Marrakech. Chinese investors will also visit projects at the Azur plan stations.
