Air activity: 1.96 million passengers at the end of July

Their traffic recorded an increase of 11.39%

Aerial activity continues its performance. The indicators are still green. For the month of July, the passenger flow recorded at all airports in Morocco increased by 11.39%. A total of 1.96 million travelers passed through border crossings in the seventh month of the year. Referring to statistics from the National Airports Office (ONDA), half of this traffic is carried out at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca. The international airport infrastructure welcomed 952,931 passengers, an increase of 8.66%. Other airports posted double-digit performance. This is the case for Ouarzazate and Fez Saiss where traffic increased by 34.44 and 32.09% respectively. In Tangier, traffic improved by 25.46%. Passenger traffic at Laayoune airport showed an improvement of 19.82%.

The increase observed at Oujda airport is 13.49%, followed by Nador airports 12.01%, Agadir 11.31% and Marrakech 10.67%. Domestic traffic has also seen considerable improvement. The National Airports Office (ONDA) notes an increase of 14.37% in this traffic which reached 190,562 passengers at the end of July. International air traffic increased, for its part, by 11.09%, totaling the arrival of more than 1.77 million travelers. 75% of this traffic comes from the European market. Arrivals from Europe saw an increase of 12.32% compared to the same period of the previous year. Arrivals from the South American market to Morocco have seen an exponential increase. Their traffic reached a peak of 139.44% at the end of July.

Arrivals from the North America market recorded a growth of 18.48%. The African market and that of the Maghreb countries saw their traffic increase by around 5.60 and 8.21% respectively. On the other hand, the Middle and Far East market experienced stagnation in the seventh month of the year. ONDA also observed 16,799 aircraft movements during the month of July, an increase of 5.65% compared to the same period of the previous year. Mohammed V airport accounts for 49.60% of this traffic, followed by Marrakech Menara 14.46% and Agadir Al Massira 6.46%. Likewise, 18,826 hover movements were recorded. Thus, the traffic of commercial aircraft flying over Morocco showed growth of 5.3% compared to the same period of 2016. Concerning freight, an increase of 31.99% was observed, i.e. a volume of 6,332.20 transported in July.
