Historic record: 13.2 million tourists to Morocco in 2023
Tourist arrivals in Morocco reached 13.2 million people during the first eleven months of 2023, beating the absolute record of 12.9 million tourists for the entire year of 2019, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy (MTAESS). 2023 is indeed a year of change for Moroccan tourism. In 11 months, 13.2 million tourists visited Morocco, beating the absolute record of 12.9 million for the entire year of 2019, indicates the ministry. Compared to the same period of 2022, the increase amounts to 36%. In November 2023, around one million tourists flocked to Morocco, marking an increase of 9% compared to November 2022. This positive dynamic testifies to the effectiveness of the promotional and air actions deployed by Morocco as well as its growing attractiveness as a popular tourist destination. “We are delighted with these exceptional results, which encourage and motivate us further to continue the work started with all stakeholders in the sector. The start of the implementation of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap is clearly bearing fruit, and we are well on our way to exceeding the target of 14 million tourists by the end of December 2023,” declared Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor.
