Elected officials from Ouawizght still in office despite a dismissal judgment awaiting execution

DISCOVER MOROCCO
Three members of the Ouawizght municipal council, in the province of Azilal, continue to sit and participate in sessions of the council, despite a final judgment from the Administrative Court of Casablanca ordering their revocation

Although the decision was confirmed at first instance and on appeal, its execution remains suspended pending the intervention of the governor of the province. The president of the municipal council, Farid Al-Mazghi, indicated that the continued presence of the three elected officials is due to the absence an official notification from the governor, specifying that the execution procedure has not yet been completed

He stressed that the revocation only becomes effective after receipt of an administrative letter confirming the loss of their status as elected officials and prohibiting their participation in the work of the council. advisors Siham Zaitouni, Rabah Al-Maârouf and advisor Abderrahmane Chérifi, with all the legal consequences that this implies. This decision follows a complaint filed by the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party, accusing its three elected officials of having voted against the 2024 budget, signed a motion to dismiss the president, approved the referral to justice for this purpose, and voted against the preparation of the 2025 budget

The party’s complaints are based on the provisions of the organic law relating to political parties and local authorities, which consider that the violation of partisan directives constitutes a “failure to political affiliation” which may justify a request for revocation.
