Moroccan Chef Faycal Bettioui wins a Michelin star

Almost 10 years after “Wahabi Nouri”, the first Moroccan-German Chef to receive the Michelin star, it is the turn of Faycal Bettioui to win the prestigious award, considered one of the most coveted in the profession.

Chef of the restaurant “Zur Krone” (The Crown), of which he is the owner, it was during the Michelin star award ceremony in Germany for the year 2019, which took place on the evening of Tuesday February 26, that Faycal Bettioui received his first star in the Michelin Guide. An award that crowns more than 20 years of career and hard work in the United States and Germany.

Faycal Bettioui, who took charge of the restaurant “Zur Krone” in 2015, had already been rewarded as “the insider’s tip” during the gastronomic competition “Thus the taste of the South Palatinate” in 2016 and was awarded the jury prize in 2018.

Originally from Casablanca, he first studied computer engineering, before opting for dentistry. And it was while preparing for his Bachelor’s degree in biology in Miami that Faycal Bettioui decided to devote himself to his first passion: cooking, reports the websiteLa Quotidienne. A reconversion to which this very first Michelin star probably proves.
