Morocco accelerates its digital transition with the launch of 5G

Morocco is preparing to take a major technological milestone with the expected launch of 5G in November 2025, on the eve of the African Cup of Nations (CAN). This new generation of mobile network promises ultra-fast connectivity and paves the way for a profound transformation of several key sectors, ranging from health to agriculture, including industry, smart cities and digital services. According to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), the deployment plan provides for coverage of 25% of the population by the end of 2025, with a goal of reaching 70% by 2030. The first areas concerned will be large cities, economic centers, technology parks and strategic industrial zones. Particular attention will be paid to universities, research centers as well as cutting-edge industrial sectors such as automobiles and aeronautics. A representative of the ANRT indicated that new regulations are being developed in order to guarantee not only extensive coverage, but also impeccable quality of service, meeting the expectations of users and the requirements of the Moroccan digital market.
