
Opening of the first Ecolodge in the southern provinces
Located in Foum Labouir, an exceptional spot at the foot of the Atlantic Ocean, Dakhla Westpoint Ecolodge offers its visitors a unique experience of surfing, windsurfing and of course kitesurfing.
The tourist infrastructure of the city of Dakhla has just been strengthened with the opening of a new establishment: the Dakhla Westpoint Ecolodge, for a total investment of 22 million dirhams and will have 85 employees, mainly recruited locally.
Located in Foum Labouir, an exceptional spot at the foot of the Atlantic Ocean, Dakhla Westpoint Ecolodge offers its visitors a unique experience of surfing, windsurfing and of course kitesurfing, on the site which hosts the world championship of this sporting discipline every year.
With a capacity of 140 beds, Dakhla Westpoint Ecolodge is today the most advanced establishment in terms of respect for the environment and sustainable development in the region.
The hotel is part of a completely ecological and sustainable construction and operation approach, through innovative construction using local materials, a solar power plant and LED lighting reducing electricity consumption by 75%, a latest generation wastewater treatment station for the reuse of purified water for watering green spaces coupled with the installation of a drip system, and also has a natural seawater swimming pool, free of chemicals. The hotel combines calm, through its Balinese architecture of these private bungalows, and their breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean.
This region has great ambitions in the tourism sector. In this sense, Vision 2020 plans to make the Great South Atlantic region an exclusive destination of international scope. A series of projects and programs, in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, are planned to establish the tourist territory of the Great South Atlantic as an important tourist development pole
Objectives set for 2020: 14,000 tourist arrivals, with an additional capacity of 3,200 beds, as well as the creation of 4,260 direct jobs. Anticipated tourism revenues are 820 million dirhams compared to 110 million dirhams in 2010. In this sense, the regional program contract for the development of tourism in the region has defined twenty-one projects aimed at developing the tourism product and twenty complementary tourism projects intended to enrich and intensify the fabric of the tourism offer in the region.
The overall investment mobilized for the realization of this project is estimated at 5,236.5 million dirhams. The project is financed by the private sector to the tune of 96.6%, or 5,061 million dirhams.
