The Rural Tourism Development Network (RDTR) held its Ordinary General Assembly on February 5, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at the headquarters of the Souss Massa Drâa Council in the presence of Mr. President of the SMD Regional Council, Brahim HAFIDI, Mr. Vice President of the SMD Regional Council in charge of tourism, Mohamed EL MOUDENE and other regional stakeholders (the Wilaya, the regional tourism delegate, the director of the CRT, elected officials, the SMIT, CRI, PATs, CPTs, etc.)
The President of the Rural Tourism Development Network, Mr. Hassan ABOUTAYEB, opened the work of the Ordinary General Assembly after noting that the Quorum was reached.
Subsequently, the Secretary General of the Network presented the moral report which integrates the achievements of the three-year action plan (2012/2014) of the RDTR. It should be noted that the latter is structured around five strategic axes, namely: the consolidation of the institutional capacity of the network, the development of tourist circuits, the consolidation of quality, support and training and finally promotion and marketing.
Afterwards, the vice treasurer of the RDTR presented the financial report of the Network followed by the presentation of the report of the auditor. Then, the members of the RDTR unanimously validated the two reports: moral and financial.
In addition, the former board of directors resigned and a new board of directors was unanimously elected, the President of which is Mr. Hassan Aboutayeb.
The reappointed president presented the 2015/2017 three-year action plan which focuses on the qualification of the offer, training and support as well as promotion and marketing.
It should be remembered that the Rural Tourism Development Network was created in 2011 following the wishes of local rural tourism stakeholders in the Souss Massa Drâa region.
Today, the Network is made up of around forty accommodation structures
as well as local tourism associations at the SMD region level. It should also be noted that the latter was created thanks to the support of the Souss Massa Drâa Regional Council which had supported more than seventy small tourist businesses
through subsidies for a total of 15 million dirhams and with the creation of nearly 200 direct permanent jobs.
Reminder of the objectives of the RDTR:
• Promote the practice of rural tourism in Morocco and
defend the legitimate interests of members;
• Actively participate in sustainable development
regional and national tourism and obtain a
competitive positioning in the global sustainable tourism market;
• Ensure promotion of member structures and the destination’s brand image via communication tools and support for institutional promotional actions;
• Provide training for unqualified personnel, create jobs and participate in the fight against poverty in rural areas;
• Develop cooperation and partnership between members and with regional, national and international tourism stakeholders and encourage the exchange of good practices.
