The Ouarzazate Provincial Tourism Council will participate in the 40th edition of the World Tourism Fair (MAP) which was held from March 19 to 22, 2015, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles as well as the Destinations Nature fair, organized on the same dates and in the same hall as the SMT.
This anniversary marks the birth of two new themes: City breaks, supporting the growth of urban tourism, and Innovations & Trends, presenting the latest tourism developments.
The Ouarzazie delegation (around ten professionals), made up in addition to the President and the Director of the CPT, professionals representing in particular hotels, guest houses, travel agencies, tourist transport, bivouacs and restaurants, aims to increase contacts with T.O., travel agents and the press with a view to ensuring good promotion of Ouarzazate “The destination of dreams”.
Through this participation, tourism professionals in Ouarzazate intend to consolidate the strong growth recorded during 2014 (+9% in arrivals and +19% in overnight stays, which represents the best progress recorded at the national level)
It should be remembered that the French market represents nearly 22% of the performance of the Ouarzazate destination in terms of arrivals and overnight stays.
The MAP Paris Exhibition constituted an excellent opportunity for tourism professionals in Ouarzazate to increase contacts with exhibitors, general public visitors and professional visitors. (the exhibitor satisfaction rate is 90% and the average contacts are around 415 contacts).
The organizers expect to achieve in 2015 the same performances recorded in 2014, i.e. 570 exhibitors representing 16 sectors of activity, 500 destinations, 102,635 visitors including 2,658 professional visitors.
Note that 94% of visitors (53% working people and 38% retired people) go on vacation at least once a year, 34% spend more than 3,000 euros and 48% spend between 1,000 and 3,000 euros.
Special Workshop Ouarzazate in Madrid on March 25, 2015.
Just after this participation, Tourism professionals from Ouarzazate will have a meeting of great importance with around sixty Spanish TOs and travel agents organized by ONMT Madrid, the objective is to perpetuate the strong breakthrough recorded on the Spanish market which saw an increase of 42% in arrivals and 54% in overnight stays in 2014.
This breakthrough should allow a significant evolution of the share of this market in the overall flow (this market represented in 2014, respectively 5% and 9% of arrivals and overall overnight stays).
Tourism professionals in Ouarzazate remain confident for this market, especially following the establishment of a direct line between Madrid and Ouarzazate (The number of passengers on this service has been increasing since December 2014, the date this line started).
Note that professionals from Ouarzazate participated in the ITB Berlin Exhibition from March 4 to 8, to continue attracting more German tourists (+ 22% arrivals and + 17% overnight stays in 2014 compared to 2013).
