1,299 new tourist guides regularized
The Ministry of Tourism indicates that as part of the royal directives aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people and possibilities to integrate the formal sector by promoting expertise, it launched last April a vast operation to regularize tourist guides, in the form of an examination. Thanks to this operation, Morocco now has 1,299 new guides ready to showcase their skills as ambassadors of our destination. They are divided into two categories, with 459 Natural Areas guides and 840 Cities and Tourist Circuits guides. These new guides thus strengthen the profession and bring the total number of Moroccan guides to 4,664 guides.
« This initiative, awaited for many years, marks an important step in tourist guiding in our country because it offers the opportunity for people with the required skills to access the profession of guide », indicates a press release from the ministry. “The tourist experience is at the heart of our roadmap, and we rely heavily on our guides to create unique experiences. Through this initiative, our country aims to offer national and international visitors enriching and secure travel experiences, and I would like to thank all the driving forces who made this large-scale operation possible through their mobilization and professionalism,” underlines on this occasion Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy. underlines: This decentralized operation has been very popular in all regions of Morocco. Spanning a period of 4 months, from April to July 2023, it was made possible thanks to the joint mobilization of the supervisory Ministry as well as the Ministry of the Interior. Under the presidency of Walis and Governors of regions and provinces, or their representatives, professional examinations including physical and oral tests have been carefully set up by examination commissions including local authorities, the regional association of tourist guides and the regional or provincial tourism delegation. “This collaborative and rigorous approach made it possible to guarantee the success of the regularization operation, thus paving the way for a better structured tourism guide profession and quality services in line with the qualitative momentum initiated in the sector with the launch of the roadmap,” notes the same source.
