
Morocco among the five favorite destinations of Belgians
Brussels – Morocco is ranked in the top 5 of the most popular summer tourist destinations for Belgians, indicated Tuesday the large circulation Belgian daily Le Soir.
The Kingdom, which did not experience what is called the ‘Arab Spring’, thus continues its progress in terms of tourist attractiveness, underlines the newspaper, which is based on data from rapid reservations made with the main Belgian tour operators, Neckermann and Jet Air. The two alone have more than 4.2 million customers.
Indeed, the summer of 2014 should confirm the growing attractiveness of the Morocco destination for Belgian tourists. According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Tourism, 514,000 Belgians visited Morocco during the first ten months of 2013, compared to 481,000 during the same period of the previous year.
In total, Belgian tourists spent some 562,665 nights in classified accommodation establishments in the Kingdom in 2013.
In addition to Morocco and Tunisia, south of the Mediterranean, Belgian vacationers will have to spend the summer of 2014 in Türkiye, Spain and Greece.
In recent seasons, other destinations such as the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean have been added to the list of Belgian tourist reservations.
A diversity of tourist offers which demonstrate, according to tour operators, all the potential that the Belgian market holds. In fact, the Belgian tourist spends on average 2,500 euros per year and per household. It is one of the most important budgets at European level.
