Moroccan tourism regains color
The tourism sector in Morocco is gradually regaining the stability it knew before the coronavirus period. The return of foreign and Moroccan tourists strongly contributes to this comeback.
The fact that the American federal agency responsible for public health (CDC) decided to put Morocco on the list of moderate risk countries could only give impetus to the tourism sector which was in an impasse, according to an article posted online by Jeune Afrique and entitled « Morocco: the tourism industry in battle order. »

Before the health crisis, the United States supplied Morocco with around 300,000 tourists per year. Same figure for Italy and Belgium. France leads the countries providing tourists to Morocco with 1.8 million travelers in 2018, Spain with 800,000, the United Kingdom with 400,000 and Germany with 400,000, specifies Jeune Afrique.

Citing figures from the National Airports Office (ONDA), the magazine specifies that in July alone, airport activity had already recorded 70% of that of 2019, allowing hotels which were running out of steam to bounce back and, for some, avoid bankruptcy. “They are more dynamic there than in any country in sub-Saharan Africa,” informs Jeune Afrique, recalling the 2020 report from the consulting firm W Hospitality, which lists new projects from international hotel chains each year.
