Chefchaouen at the top of tourist destinations to discover in 2017
The city of Chefchaouen was ranked at the top of the tourist destinations to discover in 2017 in the Maghreb and Middle East region, according to the English-speaking news site Stepfeed based in Dubai.
In an article published at the start of the year drawing up a list of the seven best sites to visit in 2017, the blue city topped the ranking, for its picturesque landscape located in the heart of the Moroccan Rif mountains, recognizable with its houses with whitewashed facades covered in a very distinctive blue, notes the site.
The beauty of the mountain landscape of the city of Chefchaouen, founded in 1471 as a small fortress, is enhanced by the contrast of the bright colors of the medina and its relaxed atmosphere, writes the site. We also find in this list, the Pamukkale site in Turkey, followed by Shiraz in Iran, Anfeh in Lebanon, Dahab in Egypt, Musandam in Oman and Khor Al Aidad in Qatar. According to the report, these sites are distinguished by their beauty and cultural richness and are part of the UNESCO world heritage.
