
Assa-Zag: 17 million dirhams for tourism
This province is particularly full of diversified natural resources
The Provincial Council of Assa-Zag recently approved a partnership agreement for the implementation and financing of tourism development projects at the provincial level.
These projects are part of the Integrated Program for the development of rural and nature tourism in certain municipalities in the provinces of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region (2016-2022), having been the subject of a partnership agreement signed in September 2014.
The contribution of the Provincial Council amounts to 8 million dirhams as part of this program aimed at carrying out a series of development projects for a total amount of 17 million dirhams.
These projects concern the creation of agrotourism routes to promote local products in the surroundings of Assa, the creation of shops to display these products, the development of the Ain Chifa site in Assa, the construction of a tourist inn in Touizgui in Assa, the development of summering areas in Touizgui and Aouinat Lhna in Zag, the development of a site to set up a tourist campsite extending over the oasis strip between Khankat Laâouina and Oued Draa, as well as the support of the Assa-Zag festival.
These projects are in addition to those programmed within the framework of the regional program contract for the development of the tourism sector in the province and which provides for the construction of a tourist lodge in Win Messdour in the commune of Laâouina, the repair and upgrading of Ksar Assa, in the urban commune of Assa, and the construction of a lodge at the douar Ikhzane in the rural commune of Birat.
This province is full of diversified natural resources that it is imperative to develop, in order to make them a lever of economic dynamics and a pillar for investment and employment.
Tourist players are betting on the development of other potentials, no less important, to achieve a real take-off of the sector in the region, such as historical sites, rock engravings, some of which date back to 3,000 BC. BC, the rich and diverse cultural heritage, river mouths, thermal springs, caves and oases. And also the development of tourist circuits of a sporting and adventurous nature (eco-tourism and Saharan tourism), which distinguish the province from other neighboring regions.
