A page turns for the FNAVM
The National Federation of Travel Agencies of Morocco is beginning a new stage in its life. After hitting the headlines on several occasions, notably because of an internal war between its members, the outgoing President has declared the end of his mandate and an interim president has been appointed pending the next elections.
This Saturday, December 15, 2018, the FNAVM held an atypical General Assembly of its kind in that its agenda made no mention of the election of a new president.
Indeed, the outgoing president, Amal Karioun was at the end of his mandate and had to convene an elective AGM to comply with the Statutes and ensure the continuity of the institution.
It was in front of a packed room and after procrastination that he finally handed over his mandate to the General Assembly not without having distributed a moral report of several pages and omitting to present his financial report.
The members of the FNAVM, which are the Regional Associations, have therefore taken note and, based on the statutes in force, have decided to elect an Interim President for a period not exceeding June 30, 2019.
The choice fell on Khalid Benazzouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat tour operators association, to act as interim and prepare with an office and an Ad Hoc committee a restructuring plan for the FNAVM both in its mode of governance and in its missions with the aim of restoring visibility to this sector, an important link in the tourism value chain, which has many need.
