SIAM: More than 800,000 visits recorded at the 12th edition

The theme chosen this year focused on the existing correlation between agribusiness and sustainable agricultural value chains. The scientific component was crowned by the holding of 33 conferences and the signing of 21 conventions. Furthermore, the Show put the spotlight on Italy.

The results of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco have been released. The twelfth edition was crowned with success. A success which confirms the status of this event as an unmissable event for national, regional and African agriculture.

The figures announced by the organizers illustrate this enthusiasm. The Fair, held annually in the Ismaili capital, was attended by 810,000 visitors and the participation of around sixty countries. “Organized from April 18 to 23, 2017, this new edition confirmed the primary vocation of SIAM, namely its status as a true platform for exchange and promotion aimed at various national and international stakeholders, actively working for the development and sustainability of the agricultural and rural sector”, underline the organizers to this effect.

The second edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco focused on the industrial aspect of agriculture.

The theme chosen this year focused on the existing correlation between agribusiness and sustainable agricultural value chains. The scientific component was crowned by the holding of 33 conferences and the signing of 21 conventions. Furthermore, the Show put the spotlight on Italy. The guest of honor for this 12th edition is the third agricultural country in the European Union and one of the world leaders in sustainable and organic agriculture. The international influence of the largest farm in Morocco continues to be confirmed. SIAM has succeeded over the years in attracting new participants. There are 66 countries who attended this event. These include Poland, Hungary, Denmark, Serbia, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Latvia, Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Romania, Belarus, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Monaco, Sweden and Ireland.

The African dimension no longer needs to be confirmed: 21 African countries participated in SIAM, drawing inspiration from the Moroccan agricultural experience. Great interest has been shown in this sense for the African Agriculture Adaptation initiative, known as “Triple A”. Launched by Morocco, this initiative aims to reduce the vulnerability of the continent’s agriculture to climate change and to link climate financing to food security. SIAM also saw the participation of 1,350 exhibitors and around twenty foreign delegations, 15 of which were highly represented by their respective ministers.
