Marrakech: The airport hosts an air show
Hardly its new extension completed and operational, Marrakech Menara airport is hosting a major event, the MEBAA Show Morocco, the only event dedicated to business aviation in North Africa. And this, from September 12 to 13.
The event which will be held in partnership with the National Airports Office (ONDA) expects no less than 2,500 professional visitors over the two days. After a first edition in Casablanca, which welcomed 2,033 visitors during the two days of the exhibition, discussions with the Moroccan government led to the decision to make this show a regular meeting in the country.
And this is how the second edition of the MEBAA Show Morocco returns to Marrakech Menara, which, after an extension of 1.22 billion DH, will increase the reception capacity to 9 million passengers, or even 12 million. The positive point is that this beautiful architecture was completely produced locally and the result has nothing to envy of the major world airports in Europe and the Middle East.
The break was aesthetic and ecological since the building was carefully designed to respect environmental logic. In addition, and as indicated by Ali Alnaqbi, founder and executive president of MEBAA (Middle East and North Africa Business Aviation Association), the new site at Marrakech-Menara airport now offers numerous spaces which will allow exhibitors to increase their visibility and take advantage of the professional meeting opportunities that will be offered. And already according to the organizers of the MEBAA Show Morocco, many companies have confirmed their participation in the event, such as Jetex, Sea Prime and XJet in addition to Gulfstream, one of the official sponsors of the show.
For the CEO of ONDA, Mohammed El Oufir, “it is thanks to the growth and opportunities of business aviation in Morocco that we anticipate an increase in interest from the region and beyond, and are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to aeronautical companies.” Around fifty national exhibitors as well as international operators in the fields of private and business aviation, the aeronautical industry and related sectors are participating in the event which is held over an area of 45,000 m2.
A static exhibition of aircraft used in this type of aviation is also planned. Remember that Morocco has positioned itself as a business aviation hub between Europe and Africa and its growth potential is enormous. At least this is the opinion of numerous studies carried out in this area and which have shown that Morocco is the most important market on the African continent.
Big names in the industry, such as Boeing, Safran and other major aviation companies have invested in factories in Morocco. In recent years, United Technologies and Bombardier have undertaken very significant investments. The Moroccan government has also recognized the potential created by the business aviation industry and has supported it with its own investment, including by creating the Moroccan Aeronautical Institute.
