
Agadir: 42.23% increase in tourist arrivals in June 2017
Tourism in Agadir continues its upward trend. Arrivals increased by 42.23%, andnight stays by 26.77% during the month of June, compared to the same period of 2016.
Thus, the number of tourists received in June reached 54,042 people, compared to 37,996 during the same period of 2016. Overnight stays increased to 285,957 compared to 225,565 in June 2016, a gain of 60,392 overnight stays.
According to the Agadir Souss Massa Regional Tourism Center (CRT), this increase is driven by the Moroccan, English, Polish, French and even German markets.
« The increase was mainly driven by international tourism, like the Polish market which grew by +75% following the implementation of new flights with the company ‘Wizzair’ (Mondays and Fridays), or the German market which saw the tour operator ‘FTI’ strengthen its presence in Agadir », explains the CRT.
The average occupancy rate recorded in classified hotels in the city of Agadir in this month recorded an increase of 19.30%, going from 31.71% in 2016 to 37.83% in 2017.
