FITUR international exhibition: Morocco exhibits its tourist assets in Madrid
Morocco’s participation in FITUR 2020, which will continue until January 26, will aim to highlight the diversity of its tourism offering, identify new avenues for partnerships and strengthen the influence of its destination on an international scale.
On this occasion, a Moroccan stand was set up by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) on an area of 313 m2 which will be made available to some 150 Moroccan professionals and players in the sector representing in particular Regional Tourism Centers (CRT), hotel chains and travel agencies, as well as 27 co-exhibitors from airlines and shipping companies and artisan groups.
This show, the second most important tourist event in the world after that of Berlin, constitutes an important opportunity for Moroccan professionals in the tourism sector to highlight the authentic and rich offer of Moroccan products and establish contacts and partnerships with their Spanish and international counterparts.
The Moroccan stand was designed by combining authenticity and modernity to shed light on the wealth of Morocco as a tourist country and thus attract professionals and international players in the field, underlined the ONMT delegate in Spain, Mohamed Sofi.
In a statement to the press, Mr. Sofi noted that 10 Moroccan regions will take part in this international event to present their offers and their tourist specificities, adding that FITUR is an opportunity to highlight the diversity and the wide range of the offer of the Morocco destination and its many assets, in particular proximity and security.
In this sense, he recalled that Morocco is the preferred destination for Spanish nationals outside the European continent, specifying that some 2.5 million Spaniards visited the Kingdom in 2018, an increase of 6% compared to 2017.
According to the organizers, FITUR 2020, which will see the participation of 165 countries, will focus on supporting the changes and requirements of the tourism industry which has become an important pillar for job creation.
Considered one of the most important trade fairs for the tourism industry in Europe, FITUR received more than 250,000 visitors in 2019, between professionals and the general public.
