Morocco is taking part in the 40th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR-2019), which was kicked off on Wednesday at the Madrid Exhibition Center (IFEMA) by Queen Letizia of Spain, with a strong delegation comprising 150 professionals, including representatives of regional tourism centers (CRT), hotel chains and travel agencies.
The Moroccan delegation at this unmissable tourist event is also made up of 27 co-exhibitors from airlines and shipping companies and artisan groups, as well as 10 regions who came to highlight the diversity of the national tourist offer, identify new avenues for partnerships and strengthen the influence of the Morocco destination on an international scale.
On this occasion, Queen Letizia of Spain visited the Moroccan pavilion where she was welcomed by the Moroccan ambassador in Madrid, Karima Benyaich, the director general of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), Adel El Fakir and the Moroccan tourism professionals and actors participating in this event.
Combining authenticity and modernity, the 313 m2 Moroccan stand, designed by the ONMT, aims to shed light on the wealth of the Kingdom and thus attract professionals and global players in the field.
The objective of Morocco’s participation in FITUR is to consolidate the partnerships established with the Spanish tourism industry and identify new avenues of cooperation in order to improve the referencing of the Morocco destination and its different regions, to consolidate Spanish flows and increase the market share of the Morocco destination.
Morocco is taking part in this edition of FITUR with a strong delegation made up of professionals in the sector, in particular representatives of CRTs, hotel chains and travel agencies, with a view to presenting the wealth and potential of the different regions of the Kingdom, underlined Mr. El Fakir.
In a statement to MAP, the director general of the ONMT added that Moroccan participation in this international event constitutes an opportunity to present the national tourism offer as well as the tourist destinations offered by the Kingdom, in addition to identifying the diversity and competitiveness of these destinations through their potential, in particular cultural tourism, business tourism, seaside, sports and adventure tourism.
The ONMT deployed the new stand concept which reflects its new directions for better highlighting of regions, destinations and products with a fully digitalized system, a completely redesigned design but always respecting Moroccan tradition and authenticity, he added, specifying that giant screens were set up to present the specificities of the Moroccan destination.
One of the strong points of Moroccan participation in this edition is the presence of 10 regions of the Kingdom exposing their particularities and their potential to international professionals, in addition to the participation of companies operating in the sector, noted Mr. El Fakir.
This year, the ONMT will continue its efforts aimed at consolidating and promoting the Morocco destination and promoting its rich and diversified offer and thus achieving the influence of the national tourism sector, through several initiatives including the strengthening of partnership relations with travel agency networks and professionals in the field, as well as with the media, the organization of promotional campaigns based on modern technologies and social networks, and participation in the most important regional and international tourism exhibitions.
According to the organizers, FITUR (January 22-26), which sees the participation of 165 countries, focuses on supporting changes and the requirements of the tourism industry which has become an important pillar for job creation.
Considered one of the most important trade fairs for the tourism industry in Europe, FITUR received more than 250,000 visitors in 2019, between professionals and the general public.
