Moulay Yacoub: The Vichy thermal complex delivered in December

Work on the new Vichy Moulay Yacoub thermal complex is progressing well. “The project has reached a progress rate of 80%. It will be finalized next December,” indicates Mohammed Karim Jennane, Managing Director of Cothermy. With an investment of 218 million DH (excl. VAT), the project promises great growth for the small town, now nestled in well-being and health tourism.

On August 30, 2017, the machines stopped and the 500 workers left to celebrate Eid. But the top management of the CDG Développement subsidiary and its partner Vichy Spa International, manager of the hotel and modern thermal baths, are there. “To successfully complete the renovation of the thermal baths and the construction of the new “Vichy Thermalia Spa” hotel, on time (December 2015 to December 2017), we awarded the construction work to companies with several references,” emphasizes Jennane.

And to continue: “Our project consists of the construction of a 4-star hotel with 100 keys, the renovation of the modern thermal baths, management delegated by Vichy Spa International, and the creation of a Cothermy subsidiary, 100% subsidiary of Sothermy, which will carry the assets of the hotel and the modern spa resort.”

With a built area of 14,000 m2, the hotel is being finished. The establishment, which will open in early 2018, promises 5-star service, with suites powered by thermal water. Besides, the witness room is ready. The furniture and equipment for the other rooms have just been delivered. With an investment of 141 million DH (excluding tax), the new Vichy Thermalia Spa hotel aims to provide the thermal spa of Moulay Yacoub with an integrated accommodation structure, which would constitute a tool for commercial and financial development of the thermal activity and would strongly position it on the tourist market.

In fact, Moulay Yacoub’s development program tends to position the resort as a recognized international destination for well-being and fitness. Making the thermal baths a vector of development on the scale of the Fez-Meknes region, thanks to positive socio-economic benefits for the village of Moulay Yacoub, is among its objectives. To achieve them, the developments are carried out according to Vichy standards.

On the side of the modern spa, reinforcement work continues on a constructed area of 6,000 m2. They will also be finalized in December. The investment allocated to this component of the project is estimated at 77 million DH.
