La Mamounia de Marrakech won, on May 10, the prize for the best urban hotel in the world of the year, by the magazine Condé Nast Traveler Spain, during the 10th edition of the “Traveler 2018 Awards”, organized at the Casino de Madrid.
The awards ceremony, dedicated this year to globetrotters, was held in the presence of singers, actors, designers but also chefs and other players in the field of travel and hospitality from Spain and elsewhere.
“This evening encourages us to fully appreciate and experience each destination”, indicates the magazine’s editorial staff on its site.
Several prizes were awarded during the evening, including the prize for the best hotel in Spain given to Domaine Abadía Retuerta, the prize for the best international hotel Tivoli Palacio de Seteais in Portugal, the prize for the best airline given to Turkish Airlines, and the prize for the best international destination won this year by Costa Rica.
La Mamounia was, for its part, represented at this gala by its general director, Pierre Jochem. “This recognition is in addition to the numerous distinctions received since the reopening of the hotel in 2009 and confirms its position of leadership and flagship of the Moroccan hotel industry,” declares the legendary hotel in a press release.
