Rural tourism: RDTR takes stock
The Rural Tourism Development Network (RDTR) recently held its ordinary general meeting where it took stock of the actions carried out as part of its activity report for the 2017-2018 financial year.
The work of the assembly was held in the presence of RDTR members and institutional representatives. In this regard, the president of the Network, Abdelhakim Sabri, opened the work by emphasizing that this AGO“also constitutes an opportunity to take stock of the various actions undertaken by the collective of rural tourism SMEs for the 2017-2018 financial year”.
Speaking at the opening of the assembly, Brahim Hafidi, president of the Souss-Massa Regional Council, focused on the efforts made by the RDTR. At the same time, he congratulated the members of the Network for the positive results achieved for the 2017-2018 financial year.
In addition, the moral and financial reports for 2017 were presented and validated. For this exercise, several actions were undertaken by the RDTR, particularly in terms of strengthening promotion and support for marketing, consolidating quality and promoting sustainable development, strengthening institutional capacity as well as support and training.
In this sense and aware of the key role that digital promotion plays in enhancing the rural tourism offer, the RDTR has invested in the redesign of its website. This showcase was developed to meet the expectations and needs of tourists wishing to discover the region.
The Network supported rural accommodation in installing an online reservation system. This system also ensures a connection to a range of online reservation centers and tour operators. Thanks to this solution, accommodation structures manage all their reservations through a single system with automatic updating of the hotel schedule on the various reservation centers connected to the establishment.
The RDTR has produced a new edition of the Regional Directory of Rural Tourism.
The latter has been enriched with additional information concerning the Souss-Massa region, especially with the addition of the province of Tata following the new division. The directory also made it possible to present each tourist establishment that has joined the RDTR, the services and activities it offers, while exposing the riches abounding in the region where it is located. The directory is available in French and English.
Five hiking and mountain biking trails were created by the RDTR, the Montpellier Center for Resources, Expertise and Sports Performance (CREPS) with the support of the Souss-Massa Regional Council and the general department of Hérault.
A series of training courses was provided around sustainability and environmental protection for the benefit of rural accommodation with the aim of promoting their tourism products and improving the quality of the services offered.
