The volume of nights spent in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) reached nearly 10.5 million nights during the first five months of 2024, up 8% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Tourism Observatory. These nights are divided between national tourism (-3% to 2.8 million nights) and international tourism (+13% to 7.7 million nights), specifies the observatory in a document on statistics on tourism in Morocco for the month of May 2024. By destination, Marrakech comes first with around 4 million nights, followed in particular by Agadir (2.37 million nights) and Casablanca (842,542 nights), reports the same source. In May 2024 alone, EHTCs recorded nearly 2.6 million overnight stays, an increase of 13% compared to the same month of the previous year, with an increase of 18% in international tourism and 3% in national tourism. The Observatory also reveals that tourist arrivals at border crossings increased by 15% to exceed 5.9 million people at the end of last May.
