Tourism: 6.5 million tourists visited Morocco at the end of 2023

According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, “in June, the volume of arrivals at border posts reached nearly 1.4 million tourists, or 25% compared to 2019”. “Several markets contributed to this performance, notably Spain with 79% compared to 2019), the United Kingdom 23% compared to 2019, Portugal 16% compared to 2019) and the Israeli market also with 96% compared to 2019.” Adds the press release. In terms of sector productivity, tourism, a major source of foreign currency, generated 41 billion dirhams of travel revenue in foreign currency at the end of May 2023, an exceptional increase of 42% compared to the same period of 2019. These achievements combined with offensive promotional actions augur an exceptional summer season. As a reminder, numerous partnerships have been signed with Tour Operators and online travel agencies in order to secure 2.8 million customers for the 2023 summer season, i.e. double the volume secured for summer 2019. In this regard, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, underlines: “The sector indicators testify to the very good health of our tourism. Our ambitions are obviously greater within the framework of the roadmap and we will continue to work with the entire industry and deploy the necessary means to achieve our quantitative and qualitative objectives. »
