The Casablanca Settat Regional Tourism Council (CRTCS), chaired by Mr. Othman Chérif Alami, held its second board meeting of the year on March 13, 2024 at the Movenpick hotel in Casablanca. And this, in the presence of representatives of regional professional tourism associations and institutional partners (Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region, Council of the Casablanca Settat region, Regional Tourism Delegation of the Casablanca-Settat region, the Casablanca Urban Agency, etc.). Casablanca-Settat in the spotlight at ATM Dubai During the assembly debate, several subjects were presented. First, the visit of a delegation made up of the president and vice-president of the regional council to Paris was an opportunity to discuss three topics linked to tourism: regional mobility and RER project, future Casablanca convention center and the cultural offer in Casablanca as well as the rehabilitation of the city’s heritage. It was also a question of discussing the progress of the OFEC transformation project, now on track, thanks to the signing of the framework agreement currently being finalized. In terms of infrastructure for tourism, the city has relaunched projects to provide Casablanca with the tourist bus and the airport shuttle bus. With regard to the city’s hotel establishments, professionals are delighted with the imminent opening of the Royal Mansour which will certainly have an impact on the positioning of Casablanca and the upward leveling of hotel rates in the city. Furthermore, the investment support operation set up by the Ministry of Tourism has benefited 40 establishments and 30 additional ones currently being supported in the Casablanca-Settat region. In addition, and to generalize services to tourists, two tourist information kiosks will be opened in Casablanca and El Jadida in collaboration with the city. Finally, with regard to promotion, the Casablanca-Settat region will be in the spotlight during the 31st edition of the international tourism fair Arab Travel Market (ATM) organized from May 6 to 9, 2024 in Dubai. And this, in collaboration with the ONMT and the regional authorities.
2023, a great year for tourism in Casablanca-Settat At the end of this council, the activity report, as well as the presentation note of the financial result for the 2023 financial year were approved by the members of the board of directors, as well as the 2024 forecast budgets and various programs and studies planned by the CRTCS. During this meeting, the president of the CRTCS revealed to administrators the key tourism figures as well as a presentation of all the events of the year 2023. For Mr. Alami, the year 2023 marks the recovery and growth of tourism in Morocco with a strong increase in the number of visitors well exceeding the set objective. Professionals expect, in fact, a resumption of tourism activity in April and during the summer period after a declining month of Ramadan. The Board of Directors also presented and approved the moral and financial reports for the 2023 financial year, the forecast budgets (CRTCS/CEA/ONMT) and financial for the 2024 financial year. The Board of Directors finally announced the preparation of the AGO ordinary general meeting with confirmation of the date with the authorities of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region.
