A new record of MAD 17 billion in revenue in a single month
Tourist revenues in foreign currency reached an unprecedented peak of 17 billion dirhams (MMDH) last August, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy. This performance represents a significant increase of almost 20% compared to August 2023, thus establishing a new monthly record, indicates the ministry in a press release. The positive trend is confirmed over the whole year, with an increase in cumulative revenue of 7% to MAD 76.4 billion during the first eight months of 2024, adds the same source. « These results confirm the unprecedented momentum of Moroccan tourism. This revenue record is based on an exceptional number of arrivals: 1.8 million in August and 11.8 million since the start of the year, » declared the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the press release. And to support: « These figures prove the effectiveness of our roadmap. We aspire to maintain this dynamic by diversifying and enriching our local experiences. This approach will make it possible to extend and better enhance the stay of our visitors. »
