Alstom Maroc will produce the cabling that will equip the future TGVs, acquired by the ONCF for the operation of the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed line which should be operational before the 2030 deadline.
During the 3rd edition of the Rail Industriel Summit in Casablanca, Mehdi Sahel, general manager of Alstom Maroc, provided important information. During his intervention in the round table on rolling stock, Mehdi Sahel revealed that the future TGVs acquired by the ONCF from Alstom for the operation of the Kenitra-Marrakech LGV, will be equipped with cabling manufactured in Morocco. In this regard, it is important to specify that the French group Alstom employs more than 1,300 people in Morocco. The industrial company, whose headquarters is in Casablanca, also has a location, specializing in signaling in Rabat, and a cabling and on-board transformers factory for trains, based in Fez. One of the particularities of the Fez industrial unit is that it is dedicated exclusively to export. Other and not the least important information revealed by Sahel: Alstom, which already has a very strong industrial presence in Morocco, also plans to soon create an engineering center in the Kingdom.
