Tourism in Morocco growing strongly in the first half of 2025!

Night stays in classified tourist establishments jumped by 14% until May 2025. The sector also recorded a notable increase in revenue and visitor arrivals, a sign of positive dynamics confirmed in several key regions.

Moroccan tourism posted a good performance at the start of 2025. According to the Tourism Observatory, the number of nights in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) exceeds the 11.88 million at the end of May, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year. This growth concerns both domestic visitors and foreign tourists. Overnight stays on the rise throughout the country The increase in overnight stays is distributed at +5% for domestic tourism and +17% for international tourism. Several destinations have particularly performed well. Tangier shows an increase of 24%, Casablanca 20%, Fez 19% and Essaouira 16%. Al Haouz saw a jump of 14%, while Agadir and Marrakech grew by 10% and 7% respectively. The province of Haouz stands out with exceptional growth. The occupancy rate of classified tourist establishments reached 75% compared to 58% at the same period in 2024. The number of nights there increased by 25%, from 201,104 to 250,389. Foreign currency revenues which reinforce the trend Revenues linked to travel by non-residents exceeded 45.12 billion dirhams (billion dirhams) over the first five months of the year. This sum reflects an increase of 8.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Furthermore, tourist arrivals recorded at border posts reached 7,219,190 visitors, an increase of 22% compared to the end of May 2024. A sector driven by a sustained recovery These figures illustrate a solid and balanced recovery of Moroccan tourism, stimulated by both local and foreign customers. The dynamism of major regions, coupled with better infrastructure occupancy, confirms the good health of the sector and its encouraging prospects.
