Mohamed MORCHID
The Moroccan Union of Dramatic Arts Professionals welcomed the historic Resolution 2797 of the UN Security Council concerning the Moroccan Sahara, calling it a « diplomatic victory » which testifies to the wisdom of royal leadership.
The Union highly appreciated the royal speech delivered following the announcement of the resolution, which reiterated the call to the Algerian leadership for dialogue and positive interaction with the UN initiative, with the aim of reinvigorating the Arab Maghreb Union and achieving the integrated development of its peoples.
The Union affirmed that the autonomy option is the « only appropriate humanitarian and political solution » to allow Moroccans detained in the Tindouf camps to quickly return home and get involved in the national development effort of the Southern Provinces.
In conclusion, the Union reaffirmed its unwavering national commitment in favor of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and called on artists and intellectuals to consider this new victory as a collective achievement, and to translate it into common cultural and artistic projects and initiatives aimed at promoting the civilizational value of the Maghrebi arts and languages, and strengthening the presence of the Maghrebi personality in its diversity within universal culture
