La Mamounia in the Top 100 most beautiful hotels in the world

Its history, its services, its decor, its illustrious customers… La Mamounia has many assets. It is therefore not surprising to see a shower of distinctions regularly falling on the famous palace of Marrakech. The latest, the annual Travel + Leisure ranking, recently unveiled in New York, which includes the establishment in its Top 100 of the best hotels in the world. He is also the only one in the Kingdom to appear there. Placed 60th in this list of high-end hotels, with a score of 95.22 out of 100, La Mamounia won over for the beauty of the place and the quality of its services. Further down in the ranking, we find the Palace hotel in Tokyo, the Banyan Tree Cabo Marques perched facing the ocean on the bay of Acapulco in Mexico and the Four Seasons Resort in Thailand.

At the top of the list, the 3 establishments favored by readers of this American travel magazine are, in order, the Four Seasons in Bali, the Ballyfin in Ireland and the Frangipani Beach Resort in Anguilla, a 91 km² archipelago located in the Lesser Antilles between Saint Martin and the Virgin Islands. The main interest of this ranking is to highlight the new expectations and habits of customers. From year to year, when certain hotels disappear from the Top 100, others appear, demonstrating for this 2018 edition destinations that are gaining popularity such as Portugal and Iceland. One thing is certain, all these addresses act as ambassadors for their country of origin, offering intuitive service and luxury experiences.

Recall that La Mamounia had previously received the Prize for the best urban hotel in the world by Conde Nast Traveler Spain and the Prize for the most beautiful swimming pool in the world by the American magazine Surface in 2018. Enough to continue the myth of Prince Al Mamoun, who had received, as a wedding gift, the gardens of this oasis sheltered by the ramparts of Marrakech, and who gave his name to the place. Since its opening in 1923, La Mamounia has been the accommodation of choice for political figures and other Hollywood stars. Churchill, de Gaulle, Chaplin, Piaf, Elton John and Marlène Dietrich, all participate in the legend.
