Madrid: SMIT represents Morocco at the Atlantic Ocean Hotel Investor Summit

The Moroccan Tourism Engineering Company -SMIT- took part, alongside several investors and large Moroccan groups, in the Atlantic Ocean Hotel Investor Summit (AOHIS) on January 22 and 23, 2024 in Madrid. This international forum mobilized the presence of more than 500 eminent players in the international tourism industry and brought together active investment communities from the markets at the heart of the event to address current issues and thus create networking and business opportunities. SMIT’s participation in AOHIS Madrid is an opportunity to affirm the dynamics of tourism investment experienced by the Kingdom, to increase the visibility of project investment opportunities within the framework of the new sector roadmap and to positively influence the investment community to consider Morocco as a tourist investment destination. During his intervention at the ‘Invest in tourism’ panel, Imad Barrakad, Director General of SMIT, explained that Morocco has implemented social and economic reforms which make it possible to further stimulate tourism investments in Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohamed VI. He also took this opportunity to appeal to tourism investors to seize the momentum and invest in connection with the 2030 World Cup, particularly in hotels, entertainment and catering. He explained that certain destinations such as Agadir, Fes, Tangier, Casablanca and Rabat are very fertile for tourist investment. Furthermore, high-level meetings were organized on the sidelines of AOHIS in the presence of the Director General of SMIT and the presidents of major international brands such as Horacio Alcalá, CEO of Alsotel, Alexis Delprat, Managing partner of Tabah capital holding SCS and Raffaele Breschi, CEO of the Arsenal group.
