The 9th edition of the Agricultural Conference is being held in Meknes this Monday under the theme “Agriculture and food security over time”.
Water resources represent a global issue in terms of food security and the sustainable use of water is one of the main global challenges of the 21st century. Indeed, 70% of the fresh water used in the world is used for the production of agricultural products and, according to United Nations estimates, global demand for water in agriculture will increase by around 20% by 2050.
It is in this context that the Assises de l’agriculture will take stock of what is now considered « blue gold » with the main objective of raising awareness and mobilizing agricultural operators as well as decision-makers and public opinion to the imperative of efficient water management that respects environmental imperatives. The 9th edition of the Agricultural Conference will also take stock of the progress and achievements of the Green Morocco Plan which, since its launch in 2008, has always stood? the rational use of water resources among the priorities. The sustainability of the entire agricultural value chain is the theme of the 12th edition of SIAM, in line with the global challenges raised by agriculture
