The destination Agadir was the starting point on Sunday October 2 of the Olibiya Rally 2016. This international event, which is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohamed VI, took place from October 1 to 7, 2016 in Morocco.
It should be noted that this sporting event is the largest African Rally-Raid of the year both in quantity and quality and meets the expectations of participants whatever their level or motivation. While remaining professional and friendly. 307 competitors are taking part in this 17th edition of the rally, including the greatest champions of the discipline. In particular, Nasser Al Attiyah, winner of the 2015 edition, Marteen Van Den Brink, Nicholas Gibon, Harit Gabari…or even Anastasia Nifontova, the only participant representing the fairer sex during this 2016 version of the Oilibya Rally.
The event, led by a professional organizing team made up of 150 members, received help from national and international sports federations and support from Rally partners. Note that between competitors, organizers, accompanying persons, VIPs… and journalists, there are more than 1000 people on the rally.
It was at Al Amal Square that the start of the 2016 Oilibya Rally was given by Mrs. Zineb El Adaoui, Wali of the Souss Massa Region and Governor of the Agadir Prefecture Ida Outanane. Mrs. Wali congratulated the participants in this large-scale international event and expressed her encouragement to the organizers. Holding the Moroccan flag in her hand, Moroccan champion Harit Gabarit at her side, Mrs. Wali set the tone and sang the national anthem with the large audience in attendance. A moment full of emotions shared by everyone, Moroccans and foreigners.
It should be noted that the Oilibia Rally benefits from wide media coverage both in Morocco and internationally. Moreover, images are transmitted daily on the leading TV channels in Morocco, France, Spain, Poland, South Africa, Russia, Portugal and the Netherlands. But also on many other TV channels in more than 120 countries around the world. Coverage is also provided on radio stations, websites and social networks. Which constitutes a great international promotion for the Morocco destination.
On October 7, 2016, participants of the Oilibya Rally of Morocco will be welcomed in Erfoud, partner city and final stage of the Rally. In total, this sporting event will cover more than 2,250 kilometers of slopes in the Moroccan Deep South in 6 days. A real feat.
