Morocco once again confirms its positioning as an African destination of choice. The Kingdom is in the top 7 countries on the continent to visit in 2024, according to Capital LifeStyle. The country appears in this ranking alongside Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Namibia and Tanzania as essential destinations for demanding travelers. In addition to the ranking, the publication also provides an insider’s guide that recommends activities, depending on the destination country, such as exploring ancient medinas, hiking camels and tasting the flavors of traditional Moroccan cuisine.

For the authors of this top 7, Africa is an unprecedented mosaic of diverse stories, landscapes, cultures and experiences, making it a must-see destination for any traveler. “From the majestic wildlife of Kenya to the ancient medinas of Morocco, Africa offers a diverse beauty of natural wonders and historical treasures,” they add. And to recall that on the occasion of Africa Day 2023, the Secretary General of the UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili, transmitted a message emphasizing the immensity and diversity of the continent. “He highlighted Africa as a dynamic hub of entrepreneurship and innovation, showcasing dynamic cities and a rich mosaic of cultures. It has also highlighted the emergence of the continent as a key player in the global tourism landscape, with some of the most exciting destinations,” recall the authors. Recognizing tourism as more than just travel, Pololikashvili highlighted its role as a lifeline for millions of people, capable of generating significant socio-economic progress. Stressing the importance of prudent management, he also noted that the tourism sector has the power to drive recovery, growth and inclusive development across Africa. So, for example, the continent is a safari enthusiast’s playground, with its vast savannahs and jungles providing a backdrop for encounters with iconic species like lions, elephants and gorillas. Additionally, the authors point out, Africa’s rich cultural heritage, manifested in vibrant markets, ancient traditions and welcoming communities, offers the unique opportunity to enjoy immersive and authentic travel experiences.
