
Hotel industry: Agadir exceeds 4 million overnight stays
nfomediary Morocco – Classified accommodation establishments in Agadir recorded a total of 4,223,207 tourist nights in 2016, an increase of 62,821 nights compared to 2015, according to the Agadir Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council.
Faced with the difficult economic situation facing the tourism sector, Agadir was able to do well by achieving an increase of 2,154 nights compared to 2015, the year during which the city’s classified accommodation establishments totaled 3,918,113 nights at the end of November, notes the Center.
This performance is explained by the strong influx of national visitors who come out on top with a total of 921,014 overnight stays compared to 832,322 during the same period a year previously, an increase of 10.66%, explains the same source.
French tourists come in 2nd position with 671,179 overnight stays during the first 11 months of 2016, compared to 801,840 during the same period of the previous year (-16.30%), closely followed by the Germans with 587,283 overnight stays, compared to 550,143 a year earlier, up 6.75%.
Note that the nights recorded by Russian tourists experienced a spectacular increase of 335.33%, going from 52,565 at the end of November 2015 to 228,831 nights year-on-year.
