BM: The global economic situation will benefit Morocco in 2017

The impact of the world economy on Morocco this year is very positive due in particular to the acceleration of world trade, the improvement of the economic situation in Europe and the stability of the performance of the agricultural and tourism sectors, said, Tuesday in Casablanca, Uri Dadush, international trade expert at the World Bank (WB) and Senior fellow at OCP Policy center.

“The continuity of foreign direct investments also allowed the Moroccan economy to have a very good economic situation in 2017,” explained Mr. Dadush, who moderated a conference-debate on “The world economy, what prospects in 2017 and 2018 and what impact on Morocco? », initiated by the Links center for legal, economic and social research in partnership with OCP Policy center.

Referring to economic competitiveness in Morocco, the French expert argued that the Moroccan economy is very competitive in terms of cost but less competitive in terms of the qualification of human resources, noting that with a more efficient education system and a job market favoring young people, Morocco would be much more competitive.

“We must exploit more of the potential of young people, particularly women, given that women today represent a large part of the university community,” he insisted.

And to add that the automotive sector and renewable energies are very promising sectors which will allow the Kingdom to better position itself in the global economy in the future.
