Students in the “Hotel Management” sector had a meeting with professionals in the sector to learn about the main points of Vision 2020. The journey to the professional world of tourism was guided by Othmane Cherif Alami, president and CEO of Atlas Voyages, Mohamed Baayou, general manager of Ryad Mogador Hôtels, and Anass Rouissi, general manager of Transatour.

The three representatives of the sector dissected Morocco’s tourism roadmap. Budding hoteliers have therefore planned for the future, particularly in terms of offers, governance and growth. “We cannot limit tourism development to a single entity or investment fund. Tourism is transversal and concerns all socio-economic activities in the country,” declared Othmane Cherif Alami in this regard during a meeting held Thursday, October 23 at the UIC headquarters.

Addressing future hotel managers, Mr. Alami invited them to carefully study the components of Vision 2020. “The Vision would make it possible to direct part of the careers of these young people towards areas of economic development,” he said while emphasizing that tourism remains a true sharing industry. Due to its constant development, the tourism industry has demonstrated great resilience.

There is significant mobility in the sector, hence the need to open up to new horizons. Likewise, the growth of the sector depends on its human capital. In his speech, Mohamed Baayou calls for more harmonization between training and professional actors. The goal is to establish a partnership in order to best understand customer needs. For his part, Anass Rouissi insisted that there be a match between the profiles trained and the real needs on the ground.

According to Mr. Rouissi, the lack of operationality, the lack of technicality, poor knowledge of the market and the lack of autonomy should be banned. The prerequisite is to understand the sector of activity, to know the market better and to master the concepts of human resources. The message from the professionals was immediately assimilated.

The International University of Casablanca concluded, on the sidelines of the meeting with the three speakers, conventions relating to the sharing of experience and support for students in the “Hospitality Management” sector. Remember that the UIC provides training that meets the high standards of higher hotel education inspired by “Glion”, the Institute of Advanced Studies in Switzerland.

The training in Hotel Management is supported by internships in companies which allow students to confront the realities on the ground.
