The city of Marrakech hosts, from December 2 to 4, 2025, the activities of the First Forum on Cultural Heritage Religious, organized by the Regional Delegation of Islamic Affairs of Marrakech, in coordination with its Documentation and Cultural Activities Center, under the theme: “The preservation of religious cultural heritage, a bulwark for national identity”
This cultural and scientific gathering is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs and its partners aimed at reviving local cultural memory and highlighting the wealth Religious heritage, considered an essential component of the diverse Moroccan identity and a civilizational witness to an ancient history
The Forum program includes a series of scientific sessions with the participation of researchers and professors specializing in social history, intangible heritage, anthropology and codicology. The scientific sessions will begin on Thursday, December 4 with a plenary conference entitled: “Young people and heritage: how to build the future?” »
Academics and researchers will discuss ways to involve the new generation in projects to safeguard heritage and the possibilities of making the latter a lever for sustainable development, the interventions will also address key subjects such as the role of collective memory in the construction of belonging, the importance of folk tales and oral tradition, the need for the transmission of tangible and intangible heritage across generations, and a reading of the history and civilizational roles of the region
These sessions will be followed by an open debate with the public, aiming to create a bridge between researchers and citizens and to deepen awareness of the importance of heritage in the formation of national identity,
These activities will present documentation works, rare manuscripts, historical photos, artisanal products and scientific research that documents memory and traces the cultural and social journey of the region, the Forum benefits of the support and contribution of a large number of national organizations and institutions, reflecting the global vision of the event, which aims to make Religious cultural heritage a common cause where culture, education, scientific research and media intersect
This Forum represents a significant step in the promotion of Moroccan heritage in general, and of the pa trimoine Religious in particular, by creating spaces for scientific debate, by promoting exchanges between researchers and local actors, and by encouraging projects aimed at preserving this heritage of disappearance.
