Tangier inaugurated its Grand Stadium this Friday after months of exhaustive expansion and modernization work, raising it to the rank of world sports venues compliant with FIFA’s specifications for the Cup of the World 2030.

The capacity of the stadium has been increased to 75,500 seats, making it one of the largest stadiums on the African continent and a true jewel in the heart of the Sports Village spread over 74 hectares. This project, which testifies to the Royal concern for the sports sector in the « Metropole of the Detroit », will host its first friendly match today between the Moroccan and Mozambican selections.

Managed by Sonarges, the stadium offers an unprecedented professional infrastructure, including three levels of stands in the colors of the city (blue and white), luxurious reception boxes (VIP/VVIP), as well as an advanced technology hybrid pitch combining natural grass and synthetic fibers, guaranteeing performance and player safety.

The stadium is also equipped with four changing rooms, recovery areas, cryotherapy rooms, and a sophisticated security operations center integrating nearly 900 cameras equipped with facial recognition.

To meet international media requirements, it has a 210-seat conference room and new generation audiovisual systems. With its large parking lots and its total accessibility for people with reduced mobility, the Grand Stade de Tangier confirms the city’s capacity to successfully host the biggest continental and world competitions.
