DISCOVER MOROCCO

The 46th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival is marked by a strong Moroccan presence through different competitions and programs, confirming the active role of the Kingdom’s cinema on the Arab and international cinema scene. This presence is materialized in the International Competition with the film “Zanka Maalika” by director Maryam Touzani, which is in the running against 14 films from around the world for the grand prizes.

Morocco is also participating in the Horizons du Cinéma Arabe competition with the film “Kundava” by director Ali Benjelloun, in competition with 9 other Arab films. The Moroccan presence in this competition is reinforced by the participation of producer Karim Aitouna as a member of the jury. Finally, in the Short Films competition, Moroccan cinema is represented by the film “Dhikra” (Memory) by Pierre-Louis Joubert, as part of a Franco-Moroccan co-production.

This diversity in the participations, both in terms of films and juries, underlines the significant place occupied by Moroccan cinema and its creative experiences within the global cinematic landscape.
