Rabat (© 2016 Afriquinfos)-At the end of November 2016, Morocco recorded 59.4 billion dirhams (around $5.8 billion) in tourism revenue. Considered the highest in Africa for the year, these figures make the Sherifian kingdom the continent’s leader in tourism.

According to CNN, Marrakech is considered one of the best tourist destinations in the world. Named the seventh destination to visit in 2017 by National Geographic and third destination to discover according to Trip Advisor, the Moroccan city is very popular. Furthermore, with 52 projects in progress, Morocco also asserts itself as the African leader in hotel construction.

The country’s status as Africa’s leading tourism leader this year is also due to its efforts in combating the terrorist threat.
