Tourism: The roadmap for professionals will be with Sajid at the beginning of September
Following several meetings, between April and June, with the ministers in charge of the sector, namely Mohamed Sajid and Lamia Boutaleb, tourism professionals have been working for several weeks on the roadmap for the sector as they see it, and in the light of the first discussions they had with the two senior officials. According to sources in the sector, the document will be on the desk of the minister and the secretary of state at the beginning of September.
To develop said roadmap, it was Amyn Alami, a well-known figure in the world of finance, real estate and also the hotel industry, who was responsible for leading the internal consultations and compiling the recommendations which will be submitted to the supervisory authority. The choice of Amyn Alami as pilot of this operation seems to be perfectly shared by the entire profession both on the side of the National Tourism Confederation (CNT), led by the Kabbaj-Zemrani tandem, and by the National Association of Tourism Investors (ANIT) chaired by Jalil Benabbès Taarji. Amyn Alami was, in fact, responsible for chairing a committee of experts, set up at the beginning of July, which includes among its members Hamid Bentahar, Leila Haddaoui, Said Mouhid, Samir Sahraoui, Abbas Azzouzi, Karim Cherif Alami, Karim Bayna and Wessal Gharbaoui. This group of experts will work alongside a steering committee chaired by Abdellatif Kabbaj. The expected roadmap will have to review the most important aspects in the eyes of professionals, notably “the governance of the sector, promotion, air transport, financing, investment and the competitiveness of the players”, we can read in a note from the CNT on this subject.
As a reminder, just a few weeks after the appointment of the new government, Mohamed Sajid and Lamia Boutableb quickly went to meet professionals to discuss with them the state of the sector, emergency measures but also and above all to share with them the content of a diagnosis previously established by the BCG firm on the implementation and inadequacies of Vision 2020. Meetings took place in Rabat but also in the regions, notably Agadir, the Oriental or even Dakhla.
