Chefchaouen: Tourism comes back to life in coastal areas
The beauty of the beaches and the inexpensiveness of the stay are among their assets
Famous for its mythical mountain and seaside landscapes, the province of Chefchaouen continues to be popular with national summer visitors. To this end and after Aid Al Adha, its main beaches, among the most popular in Morocco, experience a certain influx of lovers of relaxation, swimming and sun. This allows the province in general and the coastal areas in particular to take precedence over other tourist destinations in Morocco. This rise in power of the Chefchaounais coast is explained by the positioning of the province among the most spared from the Covid-19 pandemic, but also by the beauty of its beaches and the inexpensiveness of the stay in its main seaside resorts. In this sense, it benefits from the continued closure of the beaches of the two cities of Tangier and Asilah (classified in Zone II), which have seen a large number of their visitors desert them towards the Chefchaounais coastal areas and others Nordic seaside destinations appearing in position I according to the criteria set by the health authorities.
This recovery allows professionals to stand out from the crowd
After a long period of lethargy, tourism professionals and other sectors dependent on the summer season are pulling out all the stops in this post-Aid Al Adha period to be able to do well. Especially since thanks to its affordable prices, the province of Chefchaouen managed during the previous season to attract many summer visitors, who decided to desert other classic coastal destinations in the North, notably M’diq-Fnideq and Martil, considered out of reach. for many small and medium budgets. In addition to the spaces set up on certain beaches, visitors also have the choice of staying in one of the tourist accommodation establishments, made up mainly of guest houses, but also in apartments, the prices of which remain affordable for all summer visitors. All without forgetting the affordable prices charged by restaurateurs, cafe owners and tea room owners which are affordable in comparison with those of the two capitals of the North.
A varied visit agenda for summer visitors
In addition to prices accessible to all its visitors, the province is full of tourist and natural sites, encouraging summer visitors to include them in their visit agenda. Among which are the Akchour waterfalls and the Ras El Maa spring which have made this destination one of the most popular with tourists. The medina of Chefchaouen is not left out. With its historical and tourist sites, it constitutes an important stage in their visit planning. This is the famous casbah, which continues to majestically sit on the site with its eleven defensive towers and opposite the famous Otta Hammam square, surrounded by multiple places of worship, including the great mosque, the Nassiria zaouia as well as those of the Chorfas Kadiri and Raïssouni.
