
Tourism in Marrakech: Green indicators during the first half of 2017
The city of Marrakech recorded an increase in its tourist indicators during the first half of 2017, i.e. +19% for each of arrivals and overnight stays compared to the same period of 2016, according to statistics from the Marrakech Regional Tourism Council (CRT).
In terms of overnight stays, most categories of tourist establishments in the city recorded increases, i.e. 24% for 5 stars, 31% for 4 stars and 1 star, 11% for 3 stars, 5% for guest houses and 10% for club hotels, indicates the same source.
This increase in overnight stays is attributable to the good performance recorded by residents (+8%) and non-residents, notably the French (+19%), the Germans (+79%), the Belgians (+32%), the Italians (+25%), the Dutch (+9%), the Spanish (+28%) and the Americans (+36%), specifies the document.
Regarding room occupancy, the occupancy rate showed an increase during the first half of 2017, i.e. 50% compared to 44% during the same period of the previous year.
For the month of June alone, tourist arrivals increased by 32%, while overnight stays increased by 19%.
