Tourism: Morocco first in Africa
The French-speaking Belgian radio and television broadcaster (RTBF) revealed that Morocco is the most touristy country in Africa, with revenue of $5.8 billion at the end of November 2016.
According to the Belgian media, these revenues allow the country to finish the year in first position in this ranking of the most touristic countries on the African continent.
Moreover, RTBF recalled that that same year, Marrakech, one of the most popular destinations in the country, was designated by American television CNN as one of the cities offering the best “street food” in the world. While “National Geographic” ranked it in 7th position among destinations to visit in 2017 and Tripadvisor in 3rd place. Confirmed leadership thanks in particular to the 52 hotel projects currently being implemented.
On the other hand, the Tourism Observatory published in October 2016 statistics on national tourism at the end of October 2016, indicating that a total of 8.9 million tourists had visited Morocco during the first ten months of 2016, an increase of 0.4% compared to the same period in 2015.
