Umrah 2022: travel agencies sanctioned by the ministry of tourism
The sanction decisions taken follow the examination by the Technical Advisory Committee of Travel Agencies (C.T.C.A.V) of a set of complaints against certain travel agencies. This initiative is part of the actions carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy in collaboration with the National Federation of Travel Agencies of Morocco (F.N.A.V.M), for the supervision of tourist activity and control of the quality of services.
The CTCAV, of which the FNAVM is a full member, met on March 8, April 22 and May 5, 2022 to examine these files and pronounced the following sanctions:
- (02) Two definitive withdrawals of the travel agency license against:
“Al Assil” in Casablanca; agency which is at the origin of the incidents and inconveniences which occurred at certain airports during the departure of several customers to perform Umrah in the holy month of Ramadan;
“Clic Holidays” in Tetouan.
- (02) Two provisional withdrawals, for a period of 03 months, of the travel agency license against:
“Asfar Al Omaricom” in Témara;
“Good Flay” in Salé.
- (07) seven agencies received a warning, with:
A period of one month to resolve disputes, for 2 travel agencies;
A period of 15 days to resolve disputes for a travel agency;
Under penalty of permanent withdrawal in the event of a repeat offense for 4 travel agencies.
These travel agencies are no longer eligible to apply for certification to organize the pilgrimage for 3 years.
“In view of the above and to prevent similar incidents, customers of travel agencies are requested to demand contracts, specifying the services purchased, the corresponding amounts and the terms of their realization as well as the conditions of their termination,” indicates the ministry in a press release.
Moreover, given the resumption of tourist activity, travel agencies are required to open their premises to customers on a permanent basis during working hours, in accordance with the law on the organization of travel agencies, notes the same source.
