Tourism: the English appreciate Morocco more and more
TOURIST ARRIVALS IN MOROCCO FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM SHOWED AN INCREASE OF 9% AT THE END OF AUGUST 2019 COMPARED TO THE SAME PERIOD IN 2018.
The year 2018 also saw a 4% rebound in the number of arrivals compared to 2017.
The United Kingdom thus came in second position in 2018 in terms of overnight stays, with more than 2 million overnight stays, behind France (4.6 million) but ahead of Germany (1.8 million) and Spain (0.8 million). At the end of August 2019, overnight stays increased by 13% compared to the same period in 2018. The air supply from the United Kingdom to Morocco also continues to grow, going from 55 flights on average per week in 2012 to 95 flights per week on average in 2019. However, the major element is the emergence since 2013 of new routes with more cities connected between the two countries, namely Liverpool and Birmingham, on the British side and Rabat and Essaouira on the Moroccan side.
