Tourist accommodation: 24.1 million overnight stays at the end of October
The volume of nights spent in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) reached more than 24.1 million nights during the first ten months of 2024, up 10% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Tourism Observatory.
This development covers a drop in nights for national tourism of 1% and an increase in those for international tourism of 16%, specifies the observatory in a document on statistics on tourism in Morocco for the month of October 2024, adding that the occupancy rate is at 51%. By destination, Marrakech comes first with more than 8.43 million overnight stays, followed in particular by Agadir (5.49 million overnight stays) and Casablanca (1.81 million overnight stays), reports the same source. In October 2024 alone, EHTCs recorded more than 2.74 million overnight stays, an increase of 14% compared to the same month of the past year, with an increase of 19% in international tourism and 2% in national tourism. The Observatory also reveals that tourist arrivals at border crossings increased by 19% to nearly 14.6 million people at the end of last October.
